What to do during a winter storm warning
Heavy snow, sleet, or ice accumulation will create hazardous travel and power outage conditions.
- Postpone travel. If you must drive, keep a winter survival kit (blankets, food, water, phone charger) in the vehicle.
- Stock up on food, water, medication, and pet supplies for at least 72 hours.
- Bring pets indoors. Protect exposed pipes from freezing.
- Charge phones and flashlights; have battery or crank radios ready for outages.
- Check on elderly neighbors and those with medical needs.
General guidance based on NWS, FEMA, and Ready.gov. Always follow instructions from local officials.
